WHY IS MY YARD A SWAMP?
It's not you. It's the Caliche.
In Meridian, Nampa, and parts of Boise, there is a layer of soil called "Hardpan" or Caliche sitting 12-18 inches below your grass. It acts like a buried concrete slab.

When you water your lawn or we get a spring rain, the water hits that hard layer and has nowhere to go. It sits, creating a marsh, breeding mosquitos, and eventually moving sideways—straight toward your foundation.
Warning Sign:
If you see white powder (efflorescence) on your foundation walls, that means water is already pushing against your home.

THE IDS STANDARD INSTALLATION
We don't cut corners. Here is exactly how we install a system designed to last 50+ years.
1
Laser Excavation
We trench through the hardpan layer using laser levels to guarantee a 1% slope, ensuring water always flows away from your home.
2
Geotextile Liner
We line the entire trench with commercial-grade non-woven geotextile fabric. This prevents Idaho silt from clogging the rock over time.
3
Rigid PVC Pipe
We install rigid, perforated PVC (holes down). Unlike black corrugated pipe, this can be cleaned out and will never crush under soil weight.
4
Rock & Backfill
We surround the pipe with clean, washed rock (not dirt) to maximize flow, then wrap the "burrito" and cover with sod or river rock.
FRENCH DRAIN FAQS
How much does a French drain cost?
Cost depends on the length of the system (linear feet), access to the yard, and where we discharge the water. We offer free on-site measurements to give you an exact price, not a guess.
Will this damage my sprinkler system?
It's possible we may encounter sprinkler lines while trenching. Our team is trained to locate and repair any sprinkler lines we cut during installation, ensuring your irrigation works perfectly before we leave.
Where does the water go?
We typically discharge water to a "Pop-Up Emitter" near the curb or storm drain, or into a designated Dry Well if street access isn't available. We ensure it's at least 10-20 feet away from your foundation.
